People in the cities have kind of gotten used to the idea of red light cameras. They, the machines, say you committed an offense. You get a ticket in the mail. No evidence or due process. You, most of you, pay it without a thought. Lovely. And now that concept of injustice is coming for the walkers on the sidewalks and crossings.

In China they’re experimenting with facial recognition to target jaywalkers. Let the camera say you crossed improperly and you get fined. And it seems like they’re going with an automatic deduction from your mobile device and bank – no need to bother with tickets, courts, or any pretense of freedom. I bet people are going to love it, love getting walked all over…
